Time flies when you are having fun!

It’s been a fast two weeks for sure, but here Georgia’s newest LARP (live action role play) is finally here on the 24th. Today you will see posted on the Game Info tab some important information. The event dates that are upcoming, the rule book, and assorted other information and forms.

First event – May 7th – 9th at Hard Labor Creek State Park – Camp Rutledge!

The entire 2010 LARP schedule is posted in the Event Schedule section along with some driving directions.

Forums – The official CG forums are up and running. Please register, and post away. If you have difficulty registering for the forums send an email to forums at thecoralgate.com and we will take care of you.

Actor’s Handbook – download the handbook from the Game Info tab. Please post questions on the Rules forum.

Character Creation – check the forums to create a character in advance, get prior approval for restricted races and classes, and generally be ahead of the game. Oh yeah, by creating a character online, that opens up posting in the Silent Siren Tavern for role-playing before the first event. Get to know the other players, role-play, chat, and have some fun. Character submissions can be sent to characters at thecoralgate.com

Chronicles – be sure to read up on the Chronicles of Coral Gate. There is very valuable in play information there that will (hopefully) give a real feel for the game. There are also a couple of maps, including one of the actual Camp Rutledge, but modeled to replicate the Shanty town where our game weekends take place. It’s very cool! (Ok, at least we think it is.)

We are currently investigating venues for a pre-first event Meet and Greet – We want to eat some food, hang out, create characters, and maybe, just maybe run a pre-event module for the people who attend.

We want to say thank you to a lot of people, because we have received a ton of great support to get this project going. Thanks to our play testers, idea people and that large group of silent types who just keep saying “heck yeah! I can’t wait to play.”

The Coral Gate is a live action game for people who want to role-play. Who want to enjoy meaningful combat. Who want to build their characters. Who like to learn things in the game, see mysteries unfold, who want to shape the world, and who honestly realize that knowing everything is not fun! We have built a world that is deep, rich in lore, has tons of surprises and feels like a living, breathing entity! (Once again, go read the Chronicles section!)

Come and start the journey with us on May 7th, it’s going to be something to remember.

The Journal of Left-Tenant Bran Swillstree

 The former owner of The Silent Siren left this journal behind, and asked that it be shared with new comers to The  Coral Gate.

 “Well, where do I begin? I guess an introduction might be in order. I am the honorable Left-Tenant Swillstree. Bran Swillstree. I have been in the Empire’s service for, oh, most of my adult, and much of my teen life. Where did it all begin? Why are you reading my diary? That my good friends, is the question!

I am a bit long winded, so me wife always told me, so please ‘cuse me for that. I been the record keeper for my unit for a long time, and I found early that if I didn’t write down everything and every detail after a few months I would have darn near forgot what I was even talking about when I read my reports. So anyway, be that as it may, I am a Left-Tenant in the Empire. Or should I say, was a Left-Tenant.”

 “So this Steelsleeve, or whatever his name is, turns around, all hooded up, standing about my height and build, well, he flicks his hood off, and darn! He aint human! He’s got grayish skin with blood red veins showing through, and horns stick out his bloody face! He sneers at me, and cripse he’s got sharpened teeth too. Not fangs like a dog, but his teeth have been sharpened to a point. “

To start off, let me state that I hate “pardon our progress” postings and with that I will say, pardon our progress

If you are here, you probably want to know what The Coral Gate is. Well, it’s a LARP based in Georgia. Ok, so what is a LARP? It’s the acronym for Live Action Role Play, for those of you who don’t know. Google it if you want some real entertaining videos! It looks kind of crazy, but it really is fun. A lot more specific information resides within this site. So take a look around, but remember we are just starting out the website and it will be rapidly growing over the next few weeks.

Rand (that’s me), Tom (that’s him), and Kat (that’s her) are pretty excited to be bringing you an alternative gaming choice and think we will fit the entertainment bill pretty well. We have over sixty years of gaming experience between the three of us and used that talent to design a different type of game for you. Stick with us during our short growth spurt while we get everything up and running. There is a lot more coming, including forums and the rules (stop bugging me Jay!) so stick around; after you read what we have already posted, of course.
