4:30pm Sat – 6:00pm Sat:       Out of Play for Spell and Skill Reset, food, hygiene, etc.

I just arrived. What do I do now?
The first thing you should do is come to the Gaming Center and check in. This is where you will pay for the event, get all your tags, create a character if necessary, get your cabin assignment, sign up for your monster shift, and just about everything else.

I missed the Introduction and arrived late because I had to work. What now?
No problem, go to the Gaming Center as you normally would and we will take care of you as if you arrived on time!

How much does it cost to play?

Entire Event:       $40
Arrival Saturday after 6am:       $30
Additional Cost for a 4 Day Even:       $5
Stock Actor only, no bed:       free, but you cannot turn in Experience Tags that event
Stock Actor only, with bed:       $10, but you cannot turn in Experience Tags that event,
beds will go to playing Actors first.
Parking:       $5 for each vehicle

I have two different colored Spell and Skill tags. Why?
We use two different colors to differentiate skills and spells between days. The colors of the day will always be clearly marked at the Gaming Center. Friday’s color is good until the 4:30 reset on Saturday. Any skills or spells not cast or used by that time are discarded (in a garbage can please). Saturday’s color is good from reset Saturday until the end of gaming on Sunday.

What stops me from using last events Friday spell tags during this event?
At the Gaming Center, we have date stamps and pads. All Skill and Spell Tags need to have the correct date stamped on them before they become valid. Friday’s tags have Friday’s date on them; Saturday’s tags have Saturday’s date on them.

What about getting my weapons and armor safety checked?
Sometime before you go in-play you need to come down to the Gaming Center with your weapons and armor (please have it on). We will have people on hand to inspect it to ensure it is safe for our game and give you a tag showing your weapon passed inspection and your Armor Points. You will still need to be observant and make sure your weapon and armor stays safe, checking for breaks, loss of the boffer tip, sharp edges, split foam, etc. Staff will also make random checks throughout the event.

You mentioned signing up for a monster shift. What is that?
Every Actor is required to assist the game by assuming a Stock Actor (monstering) role for 3 hours each event. When you arrive at the Gaming Center, you will be asked to sign up for a specific day and time so we can better implement the entertainment for the weekend. In exchange for assuming a Stock Actor role, you will be allowed to turn in Experience Tags for Character Points that event, and be awarded Oceania Points which can be spent in the Oceania Store for game items, skills and abilities.

What will I do as a Stock Actor?
You will assume the role of monsters and engage in combat and/or role-play under a Director’s or Producer’s guidance. This is usually just as fun as playing your character as you get to try out new spells, skills, hone your combat and casting techniques, as well as putting on a different persona for a short time.

Can I do my Stock Acting shift with my friends?
We encourage this as it helps to hone you as a group and increases the enjoyment of the game for everyone. Most people prefer playing with their friends! Just make sure everyone signs up for the appropriate (and available) time slot when you check in at the Gaming Center.

What all do I need to do to gain Character Points?
That’s easy, pay for the event, complete your 3 hour Stock Actor Shift, and obtain some Experience Tags to turn in by the end of the event.

There isn’t anything going on and I am bored. What can I do?
In The Coral Gate there is almost always something to do. However, if you are just standing around in front of the tavern, you will not be enjoying the full benefit of the game. The town guard is efficient and monsters are not stupid. They will not bum rush the tavern in a last gasp attack since they know it would be doomed to failure. If you find yourself with nothing to occupy your time, we suggest you try the Quest Board located in the tavern, talk to some other characters and make friends (or enemies), travel about to the various areas like the Trash Heap, Dockside, the other town blocks, or perhaps see if you can be the first to talk your way past The Coral Gate itself!

I am broke and want to come visit my friends and play some, can I come and play?
Only paying individuals will be allowed to play their characters. However, you are welcome to come and do some Stock Acting as either a monster or an NPC, if one is available. You will not be able to turn in Experience Tags for your character, but you will gain Oceania Points for the time you work for the game.

What are Oceania Points?
Oceania Points are awarded to you for working for the game, making weapons, making spell packets, and other game “volunteer” stuff. You can use them in the Oceania Store at the Gaming Center to purchase in-game items, skills, and abilities. The list is long, but typical things are extra lives, elixirs, even Character Points, and a way to have the elves camouflage your cabin!

Can I smoke onsite?
Yes, but……
Please be considerate of other Actors. If someone does not want you smoking around them, or in the cabin, don’t. Smoking is not permitted in any of the bathrooms, the Director’s cabin, the Gaming Center, the Infirmary building, or the Silent Siren Tavern. If you do smoke, police up your cigarette butts. No one likes cleaning up someone else’s foul smelling, bio-hazardous waste! Individuals who are continuously disrespectful of other people’s wishes or constantly leaving butts all over site may be subject to disciplinary action.

What is a Block Captain?
Each block (cluster of cabins) can have one Block Captain. The Block Captain is responsible for overseeing the Cabin Captains, cleanup of the cabins, and areas in his block. This should speed up the cleaning and check out process. When cleanup of the area is complete, the Block Captain will check out with a Director or Producer. The Block Captain is awarded Oceania Points for a successful job.
