On the Tremon Province
Known best for being the breadbasket of the Setab Empire, the Tremon Province contains the largest area of arable land of any Province. The Golden River has always been considered the reason for this bounty, and it is the highest thing to swear by according to most Tremons. Its origin is in the foothills of the Servatus Mountains and ends by joining the Calsorian River as it leaves the Setab Province. Being a wide and calm river, the Golden River provides steady irrigation throughout the Tremon Province.
The Tremon Province was one of the original three Kingdoms in the old alliance. It could be said that without Tremon, the Setab Empire might have never been formed, as it was the call for aid by the Kindgom of Tremon that precipitated the Grandfathers’ War. Now, as then, the Tremon Province is more content to tend its lands than politic, though if need be, many Tremons take to the sword almost as well as the plow. Its capital was burned and destroyed twice during the Grandfathers’ War, but many natives consider it a testament to not only their own persistence but also see it as a symbol of the land itself, growing back even after death.
As is obvious, almost all of the people in the Tremon Province are farmers or ranchers. A sizeable portion is also sharecroppers, sharing the work while sharing the profits with the owners of the property. The best beer of the Setab Empire is generally acknowledged to come from here, and nearly all the populace loves a good festival. Perhaps because of the general good-nature of Humans in the Province, Bright Elf settlements are all about and most readily help their neighbors. Ironically, Half Elves are probably the least readily welcome in the Tremon Province, with only Dark Elves receiving a worse welcome. There are also mighty few Shalbir or Mur to be found. A couple of larger Lightborn settlements are also to be found within the borders.
Situated nearly in the middle of the Province along the Golden River, Tremon is the capital of the Tremon Province, though it is not as permanently populated as other capitals. Most usually only winter in Tremon as there is always work to be done other times of the year. The people are not as political as those in other Provinces, and most villages tend to take care of their own disputes and issues themselves. There are few noble houses, due to many eventually being married into each other and being subsumed. The Lady-Governor is Acanthia de Mellis, who also oversees the major planting festivals of the Province, the most important being the Festival of Flowers, the Augury of Birds, the Harvest Feast, and the weekly Bonefires in winter.
