Lightborn
Lightborn
The Lighborn are credited with saving all of Oceania. It is well known that they are not native to Oceania and were instead summoned to fight the Fiends of old. However, Kingdoms have risen and fallen since they have been here, and few could imagine them not being around. For their ancient efforts, they are still granted exemption from taxes and conscription in some areas. They retain a reputation as fierce warriors, and younger Lightborn will usually serve with a military unit. Commanders who have a Lightborn in their ranks are exceeding proud and apt to boast about it, because it is well-known that Lightborn will not knowingly fight for less than a just cause. Lightborn respect their ancient heroes for their valorous deeds. The memory of these heroes are sometimes called upon in moments of great need to bolster confidence. Personal ancestors are also invoked when a Lightborn is angered.
Lightborn live in communes, working for their own sustenance. These communes are generally 500 strong and consist mainly of groups having one metallic color of markings around their eyes. Other races are not permitted to live within these communes. The Elders oversee the direction of the communities, though they rely on those newly returned from the outside world to advise them. Lightborn children are raised communally and learn their history at the feet of the Elders. They learn how to bear arms and fight as both a single combatant and as part of a unit. Young adult Lightborn are encouraged to go out into the world and return when they have earned their marks. This is when Lightborn will sometimes join the military. When the marks become large and intricate enough for personal satisfaction, the Lightborn will return to their home commune or journey to another and settle down. It is because of this that there are not as many Lightborn as one would think, as the journey to earn their marks is deadly.

Naming Suggestions
Lightborn are given the first name of either their grandmother or their grandfather, depending on their gender. The last name is very important to Lightborns, as they can all be traced back to one of the first Lightborn to cross into Oceania. Because of this custom, it is not unusual to find Lightborn with the same name. The names are based off of old Norse names, such as Eileifr and Verdani, and an actor can find many more examples online.
Lightborn in Coralgate
The number of Lightborn in Coralgate rises and falls like the tides. While strife exists, they journey here to earn their marks after hearing how the town often struggles against various causes, monsters and wild people. Many do not care to get within the walls, preferring the more rigorous life outside. Newly arrived Lightborn can sometimes have problems adjusting to life in Coralgate, depending on how much the local inhabitants decide to take advantage with them, for few Lightborn have little experience with falsehood of any kind within their communes.
