Humans

Humans are found throughout the world known as Oceania. They are easily the most diverse of all the races.  Some of the best known champions of good and evil are Human. They may favor anarchy or strict authoritarian systems. Typically, most humans are unable to affect the governmental systems in which they live. Few of them also care about these things, having more practical concerns such as where their next meal is going to come from. Within cities, there are usually guilds for the craft trades, and sometimes these guilds are the true governing powers of the land, although the slums of Coralgate seem to be lacking in this area. Most human dominated countries are agrarian in nature, where the majority of people farm or work the land for a living.

Some of the more rural representatives of the race are tribal in nature. Gypsies and barbarians fall into this category. Gypsies are constantly on the move and never stay in one place for more than a week or so. They are almost never without the company of their gypsy clan, because of strong family bonds. Other humans generally consider them thieves and vagabonds at best, and in some countries, they are outright banned from entering. Any other tribal human is usually referred to as a barbarian. Some come from the far north and dress in heavy furs and leather. Some come from the far south and are completely draped in bright cloth. Others come from over the seas and are more varied than can be easily imagined.  Barbarians are usually looked down upon for not being as civilized as other Humans. Depending on how often a particular kind of barbarian is seen in an area, there may be extreme reactions due to fear and ignorance.

All personality types are possible.

Naming Suggestions
Most civilized Humans have names similar those in real life, such as Danny or Jessica. Their last name is almost invariably a representation of their current trade, such as Fisher or Bakerson. Gypsies and other barbarians have exotic names that may be as simple as Dancing Bear or complex as Jamiro Eduardo Santos Tavares Melo Silva or even consist of syllables that the common alphabet cannot properly express.

Humans in Coralgate
Humans are the dominant race in Coralgate and are also the most numerous by far.  As a city of the Empire, Humans are generally given more liberties and opportunities as opposed to other races. Almost all of the reigning nobles are human, as well as the majority of merchants. The meager amount of arable land near Coralgate belongs to a Human noble. Many Humans farm this land or fish the ocean for a merchant. Those that live outside the walls are much more disreputable. More than a few are thieves by necessity, as legitimate work is few and far in between. Scavengers are common and usually serve as the merchants in the area.

Race Relations:
Lightborn nearly always view the Human race as a whole to be a friend.  They will sometimes even fight in their wars, provided the Humans can prove that the bloodshed is justified.

Although Bright Elves rarely trouble themselves dealing with Humans, they generally respect them as long as that respect is reciprocated.

Dark Elves see the entire Human race as dumb, but dangerous.  They will generally try to take advantage of them as much as possible without rousing entire garrisons against them.

The Mur enjoy good trade with Humans provided they are well treated. They tend to believe that Humans are shortsighted and silly, especially since they’re willing to take a strand of pearls for three head of cattle!

Shalbir believe that Humans are a waste of space.  They dislike the fact that humans are in charge of most everything when they could do so much better.
